The other day my friend sent me a text and asked, “I want to try making doughnuts and want to make churros but they look difficult. Are they tricky to get right?!” I replied, “Nope! In fact, churros are the easiest doughnuts of all to make. There are only basic three steps!” She didn’t believe me, so I whipped up a batch that night, outlining the three steps and texted her with photos at each stage just to prove my point (hooray for technology!).
Simple yet delicious. I’d make treats like this more often if I didn’t hate deep-frying!
Damnit, it’s almost too easy to make which would result in more overeating and oversnacking. I love and hate you for posting this. *goes to make a batch*
Oh wow, I didn’t realise how simple these would be to make! Although it is dangerous to all my gym efforts…gorgeous pics as always :)
Churros with chocolate are one of the most exquisite little treats! These look incredible, and I can’t believe how easy they seem. This could become a problem…
hooray for a new recipe! (: I love churros! It reminds me of themeparks :D
Oooo I love churros! That’s so easy! These look so good. Mmmmm cinnamon sugar goodness! I love how you made them and then sent pics to help your friend out, that’s fab!
Hey, I remember these on twitter the other day. Such comfort food during this freezing weather. Thanks for the easy steps!
these look delicious, and i really love your photos. of course, now i’m going to have to make these every day for a week…
THEY LOOK delicious!!!
i love churros, never thought i could make them at home. i don’t have a star tip, but i imagine i could improvise if need be:)
Like the others, I had no idea that churros were so easy to make. I’ve eaten them often but never thought about how to make them. I just assumed “special equipment” that I knew I didn’t have would be required.
This is a goer!
Well, going home just got better! Can’t wait to try this out. I have loved churros since I first tried them as a child. ^_^
ohmigosh there is no eggs and butter this is fabulous ahaha!
but…but..how do i make the churros? where can i find the directions? :(
i can imagine it would be yummy with chilled condensed milk too
Hi Linda, I just found your blog via twitter, @savoryexposure tweeted out one of your instagram photos. I love your blog and this recipe looks amazing! I’m pinning/bookmarking it to try it soon. Just one question, when you say plain flour, do you think it’s the same thing as all purpose flour (that we have in the States)? Thank you!
oh these look incredible! makes me want to dive in…must make.
Thanks everybody!
JulieD, plain flour is exactly the same as all purpose :)
Hi there, could I use an all purpose baking flour for this? This is the only thing available here in our location.
What a good friend you are! I didn’t realise churros could be so simple to make — thanks for opening my eyes! I’m a real chocolate lover but think I could make do without the choccy dip for this one (so I can savour the cinnamon goodness!).
these churros look absolutely amazing. so happy to have found you–everything here is gorgeous!
I think I need to make these. Soon.
I am so glad I stumbled upon your blog…I would have never guessed that it was quite as straight forward to throw together a doughnut…I can see myself making these and can also see my son doing a happy dance :-) The chocolate sauce will make it even nicer….indulgent recipe and truly yummy! this is bookmarked and will be making this sometime soon. Thanks
-Shilpa
OMG………..
I had no idea making churros is so easy! Thanks for sharing the recipe!
Great photos!
I have been meaning to make churros for a while now but kept putting it off coz its deep fried and though may be its fussy thing to make. And now I see this, and love and hate you!
omg, this are so incredibly tasty looking! I just found your blog and can’t wait to read more of it. Your photos are incredible!
Linda, they look delicious! And that chocolate sauce is sinful, too.
Churros are such addictive .. once I start find it tough to stop! I really should try making it once at home :)
Hi Linda
I just wanted to drop you a big “THANK YOU” for the churros recipe. I have just cooked about 5 batches for a friend of mine. She owns a homewares and lifestyle shop and this afternoon we had a Hot Chocolate and Churros VIP day for her customers. The churros went down really well and even secured me a couple of catering jobs. Again thank you for sharing.
Ros
These look so yummy! Horribly bad for me, but really yummy!
lovely photography :D i really like your blog (+ the butter sugar flour one) I’ve made your mocha meringues before!
- a teen baker/blogger
Great recipe. Growing up in South Texas, I’ve definitely had my share of churros both delicious and ….not. You’re totally right–the simpler the recipe, the tastier they are!
SO easy, I was looking for something sweet and easy and these were perfect!! I added a little cayenne pepper to the sugar/cinnamon mix to give it a little bit of a kick!
these look amazing
I’ve tried churros the first time in Melbourne..heavenly delicious eaten hot..I must try your recipe!
…o.O… om nom nom
just made your raspberry marshmallows from your other blog and now i’ve found this; i get this sneaking suspicion that if i keep looking at your blogs there will be no more ingredients left in the pantry :P
Your picture sold me. I am making this for breakfast tomorrow.
Mmm… churros… hahaha. This looks delicious! I must make them! Great post!

Worth The Effort | Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
Washing up. Yuck. As much as I love to cook and experiment in the kitchen, I just dread the cleaning up part after. I’m a really lazy cook and will always try to minimise using as much equipment as I can just to save on washing up. You know how some people seem to use every single dish/spoon/pot when they are in the kitchen? I’m not like that, but whenever I make ice cream, I seem to effortlessly use a bajillion dishes and I end up cleaning and washing up by hand for at least an hour.

i’m one of those horrible people who uses every single pot/dish/spoon when cooking haha i’d hate it if i had to do all the washing up too! i love that you’ve used ‘real’ mint here. there are so many things to be said about all of those ingredients out there that really have no relation to their flavour whatsoever. delicious looking ice cream!! :)
Real ingredients are the best. Your ice cream looks so good!
Ahhhh! My favorite icecream!! This is beyond awesome.
I really really want to make this… time to buy and icecream maker.
Happy easter!
PS. I’m with you on washing up. HATE IT! I also have a dishwasher, but never use it.
I know I will probably never get much of a chance to make this myself, but your photos are entirely worth it.
I hate dishes too….but they might be worth it if this ice cream winds up in my kitchen :)
ooo – love mint chocolate chip ice cream and DAvid’s recipes are always fabulous!
*Sigh* can’t wait till I get a icecream maker.
this sounds so delicious, i love how much fresh mint there must be in each and every scoop. you must have infinite patience:)
I have been dying to try this recipe forever. Your photos are so beautiful and it looks so good I think I will definitely have to soon. And I know what you mean about all the dishes! I unfortunately don’t have a dishwasher, and it seems like even the most simplest of meals uses so many dishes!
Commenting for the first time… the pics are wonderful… i don’t have an ice cream maker so planning to make it without the machine… can’t wait to try it! Thanks for the wonderful recipe!
why I think the shade of green is subtle, yet gorgeous. My mint plant is pretty miserable now, but Im glad I do have a bag of dried mint that’s meant for tea! That’s still better than those green ogre stained liquid, right? I know I am. Haha
I’m a terribly messy cook. Thankfully the husband doesn’t mind cleaning up after me (maybe it’s because I feed him). I find few things more refreshing and delicious than mint chip ice cream. Looks wonderful!
Just placed my order for an ice cream maker (finally)! So looking forward to making this in 3-5 business days.
Hey, its me again …. the ice cream turned out great …. thought would send u a pic but we managed to clean the bowl before we could take a snap! Thanks again!!
the ice cream turned out great … the tinge of green with speckles of dark brown made the ice cream alluring and hard to resist… thanks again!
aw man i am so like that! dishes ruin everything. also, i really love your blog!!
You can pick up a cheap £20 ice cream maker, essentially a bowl made of an ice pack I think that sits in the freezer the day before you make ice cream. Don’t think you need to spend a fortune on the kit.
Looking forward to trying this though, it’s my wife’s favourite ice cream and I’ve been putting it off. We tried rosemary ice cream the other day which was sublime.
Oh, and she frequently complains that I use all the dishes.
I’m looking forward to reading more of your blog.
this is my favorite ice cream of all. plus i adore mint chocolate gelato…if its done right is so good.
i loathe dishes too.
I hate the cleaning part too! I did get good at until it was part of my job haha. This looks fantastic!
Oooh. How refreshing and soooo delicious does this look!? I love homemade ice cream and will be trying this one this summer for sure!!! Thanks for sharing! Beautiful photos.

this looks gr8! i wish i had an icecream macchine! i have made some witout, but, its just not as creamy and soft as i’d like it to be
Wow, I think I have found my next ice-cream recipe. Love the idea of using real mint rather than peppermint essence. Thank you for sharing! :)
I made this last night and it’s amazing! Thanks for sharing, I wish you had more ice cream recipes.
For those that follow me on Twitter, I’ve been harping on about breakfast a lot lately. I’ve got two weeks off before I start my new job, so I’ve got a lot of time up my sleeve for breakfast and well, anything I like really. During the work week, as much as I try, I tend to skip breakfast just because I am so time poor in the mornings (I really just value my sleep too much). If I do have a spare few minutes or so, my first meal of the day is usually something quick, fast and boring like a piece of fruit or tub of yoghurt.

These are luscious, Linda!
I love the idea of adding chocolate chips to pancakes – great!
I think I’m the only person on the planet that likes thin pancakes like this. And this raspberry sauce looooks amazing. WANT!
For heaven’s sake, I’ve never wanted pancakes so badly in my entire life as I do now from reading this post & seeing these incredible photos. Must eat pancakes!!!
oh my. the photos are sweet enough to kill!
Yum. I love raspberries! This is a perfect combo
that’s probably way tastier than any pancakes you’d get at a cafe anyway. they look so good, and the sauce is so vibrant.
Mmm…these look fantastic! I was just wondering how you got around halving the egg? I want to make this, and like you, I want to halve the recipe, but can’t get around this problem! Thanks in advance :)
I’m not a huge breakfast person, but I have no doubts that I would adore this stack of pancakes. That sauce alone has me drooling. Just fantastic!
Thanks everyone!
Cheery, I just whipped up the egg and used half :)
Love the combination of chocolate and raspberries – it may be the best combo on the planet! It’s brilliant that you took that and applied it to pancakes. I can’t wait to try this for brunch soon!
Thanks Linda!
Holy crap that looks awesome. I’m going to try it.
it’s almost midnight over here but i would love to have a serve of this breakfast right now. it looks soooo mouth watering!
What a great combination of flavors! Yum!
These pancakes make me sad that I’ve already had breakfast today. I think these might have to be dinner. I’ve always made pancakes with chocolate chips, but I’ve never but cocoa powder in the batter. Can’t wait to try these!
Your recipes and images are amazing!
Hello! I just discovered your blog and I have to say, my stomach is growling just looking at all of your photos! These chocolate chip pancakes look divine!
those look SO beautiful and perfect!!! the flavour combination sounds divine, too!!! love the photos…

I really, really love bread. I think I’d prefer a crusty loaf of sourdough than a piece of chocolate cake if I had to choose. Put it this way, if I was stuck on a deserted island and could only bring five things with me, it would be a pen, a Moleskine notebook, my toothbrush, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and a loaf of bread. I know those five things aren’t very practical, but seriously, I freaking heart bread (oh and JGL).

Aw, those bread rolls are as pretty as bread rolls can be. Love.
Yummy… this looks SO good. I should not be viewing this before breakfast. You almost have me convinced that it’s easy to make. :)
Yum! Those look great. I love rosemary in bread :)
I am totally with you on loving bread. And JGL! :D
Oh, I’ve got a crush on JGL too. But you can have him and I’ll be on the adjacent island with Keanu Reeves.
I think I could get my husband to eat walnuts if I made this bread!
The recipe and photo looks delish! I love rosemary rolls, so much so that I always buy a couple of rolls at the Ferry Building in SF.
how interesting! walnuts and rosemary paired together in a bread! Sounds wonderful! :)
My husband and I are like you in that we adore bread! My favorite food is bread and butter, and my husband can’t eat a meal without bread.
Bread making and baking takes time, but for me, it’s so worth it! I love kneading and feeling the dough, and there’s nothing better than the aroma of fresh bread! And the smell of rosemary…*sigh*…just amazing! :) Lovely pictures by the way! :)
You and I are on the same wavelength. I literally cannot live without bread. I remember a few years ago, I thought I’d give up bread to ‘get healthier’ but after I started having dreams about having a piece of toast, I realized that life was just too short. I pretty much eat bread every day and could probably eat just bread for the rest of my life. This is beautiful!
Oh my goodness does this ever look delicious! I love rosemary, I grow it in my garden every year, and the sea salt + walnuts? well this is a must try recipe for me!
Your photography is so beautiful and inspiring, such a lovely blog you have.
Natasha xo
this looks absolutely incredible. i’m also a huuuuge lover of breads, so i cannot wait to try this one out!
love your photographs. they are wonderful. walnut and rosemary bread is something I never see in bakeries and would love to have the opportunity to try some. I guess I’ll just have to make it myself. Thank you for the recipe
i heart bread as well! im definitely gonna make these once finals are over. thanks!
this recipe is absolutely wonderful. really great for a rainy day.
Hey there! This recipe just popped up to me on StumbleUpon the other day (Somebody linked you!), and I had to tell you: I’d never made bread before, nor has anybody in my family, but I became vegan about a year ago, and I haven’t had any artisan breads since then…. and this recipe just looked too good to be true. (Rosemary, walnuts and sea salt, oh my.)
So… they just came out of the oven. :) And I have to say on behalf of myself and everyone in my family: they are amazing! I am bookmarking this page, and will be returning to make more! :)
Thank you so much for your fantastic recipe and gorgeous pictures. <3 Keep posting beautiful things!
Hey Linda,
That looks like a lovely bread!I really like this amazing combo of rosemary and walnut and sea-salt – interesting!
I’m hosting an event on Bread by the way.Why don’t you drop in sometime and take a look and maybe even link up:)
Cheers,
Wit,wok&wisdom
This is a gorgeous bread Linda. I recently had a rosemary bread at Brasserie Bread and was looking for a good recipe .. glad to have found yours!
This bread looks gorgeous, as does everything else on your wonderful site… really enjoying my stay here at Toasty Biscuit! ^__^

I’ve realised my blog is sort of like Seinfeld. When it comes time for me to write a blog post, I’m always at a blank. I stress out trying to come up with some sort of witty/thoughtful/interesting prose to accompany a recipe that I want to share and I find it so difficult to come up with something that won’t bore the shit out of my readers. I’m far from a natural writer and I usually end up just writing the nonsense that floats about in my head. Pretty much what I am doing right now…

Yum! It looks better than the one I had at a local bakery. I think bananas and nutella are the perfect mix. I’m happy you are liking that book!
This cake sounds fantastic… and it looks fantastic too! Now I’m hungry.
you had me at nutella
I already commented on Flickr but… YUM. You are a genius. And while I absolutely love Seinfeld, too, I beg to differ – your blog is so much more than ‘nothing’ ! I love the way you write, it feels natural and not forced (like you’re talking to friends vs. writing an article on banana cake), and of course your photographs are always lovely. :)
Oh, I agree with Alice. You also had me at Nutella :)
But whats makes this better is that it is Nutella with condensed milk!! *drooool*
Yum, yum. And also we love your pictures!
Amanda – I love eating bananas dipped IN Nutella! And yes, I love my book! :)
Leaf, Stef, Dieu-Hanh – thanks!
Alice – hahaha!
Kim – I can’t take credit for matching up banana with Nutella, but I can take credit for coming up with a wicked recipe ;) Thanks so much for the kind words x
Linda! This looks amazing, especially because of the Nutella frosting.
while im sorry to say that im not the biggest fan of seinfeld, i think i might be one of this recipe! :D
seinfeld is and probably always will be my favorite sitcom–so clever and entertaining, even after seeing each episode numerous times.
great cake, too, but the frosting is extraordinary. well done!
What a lovely post. :)
I get blanks all the time, too, and I try hard to keep the texts short yet interesting (I’m lazy and don’t like reading exceedingly long texts).
I’m a huge fan of Seinfeld as well – and I’m not even a comedy kind of gal.
Love the cake! I’m a sucker for all things banana and with Nutella… Dreamy!
Just stumbled across your blog and actually I think its awesome :) (so is the cake, which i will be bookmarking). I’ve seem to really drawn a blank when it comes to my blog, so I totally get what you are saying!
*kisses* HH
p.s. ive been on a real nutella kick lately, so this is perfect for me
I could eat that Nutella frosting on its own. This looks so good it’s a shame I don’t eat banana’s but I’m sure that Nutella frosting would be nice sandwiched between the choc chip cookies I made this morning.
Why do I love this blog ? The recipes work – the photography is great and guide me on how the results should look … Love it.
Hi Linda!
I love your reference to Seinfeld this week! This genius sitcom comes into conversation every week with me! I’m currently in the midst of re-watching Season 1!!
I too am a fellow foodie living in Melbourne. What better city for us food enthusiasts :)
I’m glad I found you so we can inspire each other with our food exploits!
x Holly
Hiya Lucy!! Nice to see you here. Thank you! You should try it. I’m sure V would appreciate your efforts :)
Hannah, no need to be a Seinfeld fan to be a fan of this cake, hehe.
Grace, Patricia – thank you! Nice to see other Seinfeld fans about!
HH, Melissa, Fran – gracias to you all :)
Holly – cheers! Happy to see another Melbourne foodie around. Follow me on Twitter and maybe we can have our own foodie adventures ;)
Hi, I live in Chile, writing in english is a little hard for me…just to send you my congratulations for your blog, I’m printing your recipes to start cooking this week!
is it okay if I use a bundt cake pan rather than a regular square cake tin? Also did you use salted or unsalted butter?
This sounds absolutely delicious, by the way!
I itching to try it out!!
I found you from Tumblr. Thanks for your sharing your recipes, looks delish!
Just like you I often have writer’s block, which I’m currently having right now. Glad to know I’m not the only one who stressed out about what to write.
i’m just here for the cake :P*
Oh my goodness this looks amazing. Banana? Yes. Nutella frosting?? Yes please. I am making this right away.
Whoa, GENIUS!
I just tried making this and the cake turned out beautifully, but the frosting was a COMPLETE Disaster… I don’t know what went wrong…. I beat the 50 grams of butter with the half cup of nutella and started adding the sifted icing sugar, and it just turned into brown pebbles. Then I added the condensed milk, no result, and after a little more doctoring up, it was just barely spreadable, and it never got glossy… Could you give me any idea of what might have gone wrong??
Nicky, of course you can use another cake pan instead of square. It shouldn’t be an issue! I use unsalted butter in baking :)
Turner, hmm. I’m sorry your frosting didn’t turn out! Was your butter and Nutella smooth when you beat them together? Was your icing sugar lump free after sifting? I can’t think of any reason why it didn’t turn out :/ Feel free to email me if you have any more questions!
WOWY! Let me tell you, I usually never go for a banana cake, I don’t really like bananas. But this looks like it is out of this world! And NUTELLA frosting?!!!! DANGER:P
I will try it out ASAP
PS/ i just started my own blog.. around a week ago.. check it out. http://www.sassyspatula.spotblog.com
So, I actually found a link to your other site–and I was immediately captivated and decided to follow your link to this one. I love your photography. I love how honest you are. AND (starting sentences with ‘and’ is a bad habit of mine) I love Seinfeld! I grew up watching it; my parents literally had every episode on VHS and played a tape of several episodes when they went to bed (through the entire night). The nights when I felt sick or didn’t want to sleep alone, I would take my blanket and pillow and sleep on my parent’s floor, watching Seinfeld. It annoyed the crap out of me! Yet, they were like extended family. Now that I’m older, whenever it’s on–it’s pure nostalgia, and I appreciate/understand the humor. They really did make the most ordinary of situations become hilarious.
Sorry for the huge comment. I guess what I am getting at is–if your blog is like Seinfeld, then your blog is awesome. Which makes you awesome. Which answers your question,”Why are you people here!?”
I’m a new fan! Oh, “The Cake” looks delicious too. Bananas and Nutella, two of my favorites.
Hi there. This cake looks delicious!
Question: Did you use sweetened or unsweetened condensed milk (evaporated milk)?
Thanks!
Karissa, thank you so much for your kind words! I am glad you’re a fellow Seinfeld lover too!
Jane, I use condensed milk, but evaporated milk should be fine. I used it mainly to add a bit of liquid and a bit of sheen. Cheers.
Yum!! I made this for my baby’s first birthday… I ran out of butter for the frosting, so I used cream cheese instead (which turned out to be a lovely mix with the nutella).
LOVED the cake’s intense banana flavor–and so did baby! Heavenly!
Thanks for this recipe, it was absolutely gorgeous! We are going to try it again but this time putting carrot in it instead of banana and with plain butter cream.
Yum. Happy baking all.
I’m a Seinfeld fan myself. I have been watching it again recently, for the *eenth time.
I love “The…” posts. I do them myself and think the same thing as you! Seinfeld-type title!
I love finding people after my own heart on the web.
I’m Magda by the way. Hi. :)
I just made these into cupcakes. i got 16 cupcakes. To be safe, I doubled the frosting since I like a heavily frosted cupcake. I had a little too much frosting, but would probably do it the same way next time since extra frosting isn’t a problem in my book. :) Thanks!
This is the second time I have made this cake… It’s sooo yummy!
I store it in the fridge in a tupperware container (I like my cake to be cold, not warm) and it lasts for ages :)
